How to delete all bookmarks in Safari

How to Delete All Bookmarks on Safari

When I searched for a solution to this, I found that the more recent versions of Safari did not perform the same as previous versions.  I’m on Monterey and the instructions I found said to simply shift-click on the top bookmark and then shift click on the bottom bookmark. Follow that by right clicking on the selected group and choose ‘delete’.  THIS NO LONGER WORKS because when you right click, it releases your selection.  Here is my EASY work-around…

How to Delete All Bookmarks on Safari

  • Go to Bookmarks -> Edit Bookmarks.
  • Create a folder and name it ‘toss’ (name doesn’t matter – but this is a gratifying name).
  • Now select all the bookmarks ACCEPT Favorites and ‘toss’.
  • With your mouse, drag all the bookmarks into ‘toss’.
  • Now, with your mouse, right click on the ‘toss’ folder and choose DELETE.

How to Delete All Favorites Bookmarks on Safari

  • Go to Bookmarks -> Edit Bookmarks.
  • Double click on Favorites to open
  • Create a folder and name it ‘toss’ (name doesn’t matter – but this is a gratifying name).
  • Now select all the bookmarks ACCEPT ‘toss’.
  • With your mouse, drag all the bookmarks into ‘toss’.
  • Now, with your mouse, right click on the ‘toss’ folder and choose DELETE.

Summary

Way to easy, right?  I think so.  There are other ways listed on the web, including opening a command prompt window and using Linux commands to achieve this.  I think this is easy because of the GUI.  Enjoy!
